Monkey Boat Tour - Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel
A short boat ride across the calm waters of Laguna Quexil leads to Monkey Island, home to a group of rescued spider monkeys that can no longer survive in the wild. During the tour, the staff feed the monkeys, giving you a close and unforgettable look at these intelligent and curious animals.
After visiting the island, the boat continues along the shoreline in search of wildlife. Keep an eye out for crocodiles resting near the water, turtles, and a variety of tropical birds.
Before or after the tour, you can also visit the hotel’s small museum, which houses an impressive private collection of Maya artifacts.

Getting there by bike
The ride to Las Lagunas is straightforward and enjoyable. From San Miguel, you follow the main road through forested surroundings on a mix of paved and gravel surfaces.
Traffic is usually very light, making for a calm and comfortable ride. Much of the route is shaded, although the first few kilometers offer limited cover. The road rolls gently with short climbs and descents, and the surrounding forest often rewards attentive riders with sightings of monkeys and tropical birds.
The entrance to Las Lagunas is directly on the main road and is easy to spot. You will likely need to stop at the security gate to let them know you are visiting before continuing inside.
