The ride to Hotel Villa Maya is easy to follow and pleasant throughout. Most of the route follows the main road from San Miguel, a mix of paved and gravel surfaces that pass through forested areas with light traffic and gentle rolling hills. Shade increases as you continue, and it is not unusual to spot birds or monkeys along the way.

At the entrance gate to Hotel Villa Maya, speak with the guard and let him know you are visiting the forest trails. He may ask one person in your group to write down their name before allowing you to enter.

From the gate, continue along the road through the hotel grounds until you reach the reception area. To access the trails, you can either dine at the restaurant or purchase a day pass at reception.
